JOB DESCRIPTION
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
1. Lead and directly carry out UNHCR's training activities for the Indonesian authorities such as the Immigration Department in order to develop knowledge and skills on refugee status determination function in accordance with international refugee law;

2. Work very closely with the Indonesian authorities in order to assist them in developing refugee legislation, a set of administrative regulations and procedures on the treatment of asylum seekers and refugees;
3. Organizes joint training activities with/for universities, NGOs, lawyers and the media on international refugee law

4. Assists in undertaking determination of refugee status, granting of asylum, prevention of refoulement or expulsion, issuance of identity cards and travel documentation;

5. Maintains close contacts with local authorities and NGOs;

6. Keeps abreast of developments in the field of jurisprudence, legislation and regulations in particualr in areas affecting UNHCR's mandate;

7. Undertakes other duties as required.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION: University Degree in Law, International Law, Political Science or related field.

EXPERIENCE: 6 (six) years, of which at least two with relevant experience. Managerial skills, previous UN work, and provision of training will be an asset. Must be able to work with different nationalities and backgrounds.

LANGUAGE: Excellent knowledge of English and Indonesian (written and spoken). Knowledge of other regional dialects an asset.

COMPUTER SKILLS: Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Windows applications essential.
