Position - Health Communication Consultant

UNICEF is seeking Health Communication Consultant for its Improvement Maternal Health for Indonesia (IMHI) project in Central Java , to provide technical assistance for communication, advocacy and social mobilization of the programme.
The IMHI project is funded by DfID and is aimed at 24 districts in the following nine provinces: -Banten, West Java, Central Java, East Java, South and West Sulawesi, Maluku and North Maluku, and Nusa Tenggara Timur. The overall goal of the Improving Maternal Health in Indonesia (IMHI) Project is to contribute to the achievement of the goals and targets in the Government of Indonesia's Making Pregnancy Safer Strategy.
The purpose is to improve health services, systems and behaviours that influence pregnancy and birth outcomes. To the extent that IMHI will increase the capacity and function of systems at district level and the priority given by authorities to maternal and newborn care, the indirect beneficiaries of IMHI are all Women of Reproductive Age (totaling approximately 4.8 million women) and the 394,000 newborns delivered by 435,000 pregnant women in the 24 target districts, each year.
The incumbent will report to Chief Field Office Central Java and will be responsible for communication, advocacy and social mobilization of IMHI project in Central Java . Activities will include needs assessments, strategic planning and program design, project management, advocacy and media orientations, training and capacity building, materials development, social mobilization, monitoring and evaluation, results documentation.
Skills and Qualifications: Individuals should have at least minimum of 5 years' experience in designing behavior change and communication, advocacy and social mobilization activities. She/he should have experience in working with government at the community and national level, and have good relations and access to media (TV/Radio/Printed). She/he should have excellent communication skills with public relations qualities, and have pleasant and creative personality. An advanced degree in public health and health communication is preferred. Individuals must be fluent in written and spoken English.
